‍Monthly Youth Meetups

Our monthly meetups provide a safe, welcoming environment where foster youth can connect with peers and supportive adults. Each four-to-five-hour gathering may include a shared meal, guided group conversation, team-building activity, creative or life-skills workshop, and closing reflection.

The predictable monthly structure allows relationships to grow and gives young people a consistent community they can depend on.

Safe-Space Conversations

Youth need places where they can speak honestly without fear of judgment. TGIF facilitates supportive group conversations about foster care, relationships, identity, school, emotional wellness, healthy decision-making, and preparing for the future.

These conversations encourage young people to use their voices, learn from one another, and recognize that they are not alone in their experiences.

Life Skills and Future Readiness

TGIF helps foster youth develop practical skills they can use as they transition toward adulthood. Workshops may include:

• Budgeting and financial literacy

• Cooking and household responsibilities

• Employment and résumé preparation

• College and career exploration

• Goal setting and decision-making

• Time management and organization

• Self-advocacy

• Healthy relationships

• Independent-living preparation

Our goal is to help young people feel more confident, informed, and prepared for the responsibilities ahead.

Creative Expression

Art can give young people a way to express experiences that may be difficult to put into words. TGIF offers activities such as writing, visual art, music, crafts, vision boards, and storytelling.

Creative expression helps youth explore their identities, recognize their gifts, build confidence, and imagine new possibilities for their lives.

Mentorship and Guest Speakers

TGIF connects foster youth with caring adults, professionals, artists, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who can offer encouragement and practical guidance.

Guest speakers share their experiences, career paths, challenges, and lessons learned so young people can see examples of success that may expand what they believe is possible.

Leadership and Community Service

Young people deserve opportunities to lead and make a difference. TGIF provides youth-led fundraising, volunteer experiences, and community-service projects that help participants develop responsibility, compassion, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Service activities may include supporting people experiencing homelessness, participating in donation drives, and contributing to other community-based projects.

Educational and Enrichment Experiences

TGIF introduces youth to experiences beyond their everyday environments. Field trips may include museums, beaches, cultural events, colleges, workplaces, local businesses, and other educational or recreational destinations.

These experiences encourage curiosity, strengthen peer relationships, and expose young people to new interests, careers, and opportunities.

Ready for Life Pilot Program

Ready for Life is TGIF’s eight-week pilot program created to help foster youth prepare for adulthood. Program topics include identity and goal setting, self-advocacy, financial literacy, employment readiness, education and career planning, wellness, independent-living skills, and individualized next steps.

Participants complete practical activities and personal goals while building a foundation they can continue using after the program ends.

Foster Parent and Community Partnerships

TGIF works alongside foster parents, caregivers, group homes, foster-care professionals, nonprofit organizations, businesses, volunteers, and community partners.

Partnership opportunities may include:

• Youth referrals

• Program sponsorships

• Volunteer service

• Mentorship

• Workshop facilitation

• Donated meals, books, supplies, and gift bags

• Transportation or event support

• Field-trip and career-exploration opportunities

• Meeting or program space

• Collaborative youth programming

Our Future Vision: A Bridge to Independence

As TGIF grows, our vision is to expand support for young adults ages 18–22 who are aging out of foster care. This future initiative will provide a safe and stable pathway into adulthood through transitional-living support, financial literacy, employment readiness, educational planning, career development, household responsibilities, and independent-living skills.

Our goal is to ensure that no young person leaves foster care feeling as though they must enter adulthood alone. We envision a community where participants continue receiving guidance, encouragement, and practical support as they build stable, independent futures.

Together, we can surround foster youth with the relationships, resources, and experiences they need to move forward with confidence.
